Hospital reform in Buenos Aires
Towards a model of progressive careInterview with Nicolás Kreplak
Keywords:
Progressive Care, Hospital reform, health services managementAbstract
In 2023, the province of Buenos Aires initiated a process of transformation of the health care and management model, based on the principles of progressive
care and the strategic guidelines outlined in the Five-Year Health Plan 2023-2027. In this context, it is of paramount importance to draft narratives that
document and reflect on the policies, strategies, and experiences carried out by the provincial Ministry of Health. Not only do these narratives allow
recording the projections and events, but they also help construct meanings that strengthen the commitment to protecting the health of our population. To
this end, a series of dialogues with healthcare workers was planned. The first of these conversations centres on Nicolás Kreplak, healthcare worker, physician, and current Minister of Health of the province of Buenos Aires. The two-hour interview went beyond the initial questions, thus allowing a dynamic and enriching exchange. Although progressive care played a central role in the discussion, since the interview was conducted by a team from the
Directorate of Health Care Policies, other key issues also emerged, such as the hospital reform and the Five-Year Health Plan – considered essential pillars for the implementation of this new care and management model in health institutions of the province of Buenos Aires.
