1. Publication and authorship
The manuscripts submitted to the Journal must be original and unpublished.
The manuscripts must not be simultaneously published in another journal.
If the manuscript is subsequently published in any other means of dissemination, the original publication data must be indicated.
2. Evaluation and revision
First, compliance with these instructions and with the requirements for each document type, which can be found in the Submissions section, is verified.
If the instructions are not fulfilled, the manuscript will be returned for adjustments.
Secondly, the manuscript undergoes a quality and relevance evaluation process by the Editorial Committee, which then notifies the authors its acceptance for review.
Finally, the document goes through a peer-review process; the external experts determine whether it is viable for publication.
3. Deadlines
The editorial team commits to informing the author on the reception of the article in no more than five days, and the acceptance or rejection of its publication in no more than three months.
4. Content
The contents or concepts expressed in the articles, are the responsibility of their authors.
5. Types of publications received and/or submissions sections
-original scientific research articles
-reviews: narrative or descriptive; systematic and meta-analysis
-health technology assessment (HTA)
-special reports
-opinion and reflection articles, or interviews with experts
-short communications
-good practices
-research articles within the framework of the Public Health “Julieta Lanteri” research scholarships.
6. Formats and styles of the articles
For scientific articles in general, the IMRyD format is followed in Spanish, and the IMRaD in English (Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion).
For other type of manuscripts, the content format and order are specified in the guidelines for each accepted publication type.
The maximum extension for each type of manuscript is also indicated in its respective publication conditions.
The Journal proposes the use of the Equator Network Guidelines ( for manuscript elaboration and creation. Depending on the publication type in question, these guidelines identify how to organize the manuscript, including the necessary sections and their content. Different guidelines are available in English, such as: CONSORT for observational studies, PRISMA for systematic reviews, STROBE for observational studies, STARD for diagnostic and prognostic studies, CARE for case reports, etc., on the Equator Network Guidelines homepage (EQUATOR Network: what we do and how we are organised | EQUATOR Network (equator-network.org)
7. Guidelines for bibliographic citing
Bibliographic guidelines follow the Vancouver citation style and the elaboration of Bibliography and Bibliographic References since it is the most widely used format in the field of medicine and health sciences. Citing and reference examples are available on Citing medicine 2020 website.
